I took it briefly with my Canon EOS 50D SLR with a Tokina 12-24mm wide angle lens and a Canon L-series 24-105mm zoom. I have a Canon PowerShot SX1 IS to the video (from the Washington Photo Safari owner Dave Luria statement of our group) to capture. Bald Eagles at Conowingo Dam, Maryland 29 November 2008

I took these photos at Conowingo Dam in northern Maryland. The bald eagles gather here in the late fall and early winter (because the dam has a lot of fish swim near it). There were many eagles are both fully mature (with the colors that we expect) and youth (with a sort of spotted pattern spring) I've been using my Canon EOS 50D SLR and a Canon L-series lens 100-400mm (together with a Tamron 1.4x Tele Conveter). I touched the pictures up using Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.0 (and the reduction ofGranularity of 2.0 Noiseware Plug-in). The background song is "Living on a Thin Line" by the Kinks. These are pictures I on 13 December 2008 informed the Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge in Delaware. I used my Canon EOS 50D with Tokina 12-24mm wide angle lens, a Canon L-series 24-105mm lens and a Canon L-series 100-400mm zoom lens. The Canon Rebel XSi (known in Europe as 450D) is an excellent semi-professional digital camera. Lightweight, with great battery lasting life (and it recharges very fast), is easy to use even if you're a newcomer to reflex digital photography, but can satisfy also the more "mature" user with a large variety of pre-set shooting modes as well as the manual settings. These proper use of manual settings require some experience, but give probably the best results in terms of the actual capabilities of the XSi. The instruction manual provides good information and tips on how to use these features and is a recommended reading if you want to enjoy this camera. The lenses are really good. The 18-55 has the Canon's IS feature (autostability) and great focal. I personally prefer the Canon 75-300 tele. Is very luminous lens and easy to adjust.
The overall kit is a real bargain and fully worth the price. Great buy and great fun with this camera!

The Bower SFD14C ring flash appears identical to the Opteka RL-500,
which has been problematic for some Amazon reviewers.
My Bower ring flash works fine, so far (as of this second day).
I wish it allowed for a lens cap while it is installed;
instead for protection I will insert a UV filter
between the ring flash and lens.

The battery charger is better than expected;
it handles AAA (as well as AA) without adapters and, unlike others, appears to sense each cell separately.
With other chargers which charge 2 cells in series,
one cell may invert or otherwise fail.
I have not yet tried the charger with NiCd,
which it also claims to support.

The "Accessory Kit" is a Precision DJC-007 cleaning kit.
It appears similar to Amazon B000W79C82, except without the DigiKlear
or B001LEQA12 without the LensPEN. The cleaning fluid is labeled:
"DISTILLED WATER AND NON_TOXIC GLASS CLEANER".

The tripod is a Digital Concepts TR60N,
for which see Amazon B000093UDQ.

For -20 more than a Bower SFD14C without batteries, I am satisfied.

I don't understand the negative reviews regarding this product. I have used 1000d, 40d, and 5d. Just sold my 40d for 600dollars and added 300dollar because the price of the 50d is already 900!what a deal! This camera is waay better than my 40d, I love the way it feels in my hand and the buttons and the LCD is worth enough to dump my obsolete 40D. I don't understand people complaining about the noise problem as compare to 40d, in my opinion they are the same great punchy color, just like other Canons that I used.

The plastic shell is of higher quality than the 40D and I noticed that the seams are more tight than my 40d.

Love this camera and have the 70-200 f2.8L IS USM version II semi permanently mounted to it, killer combo I can handheld indoor 1/8 second at ISO 200!

Best bang for my buck this 50D!

Also added the Camera Armor, fits great and I don't understand why people complain about the fit.

A shutter diary of my recent trip to Bratislava & Vienna. Will hopefully get round to actually editing these photos in the near future after which I might create a new version which pauses on the "good(?)" edited photos. For those interested in the technicals...All photos were taken on a Canon EOS 50D with a variety of lenses (10-22mm, 24-70mm & 85mm). Once converted to DNG and imported into Lightroom I exported small jpegs of all the photos (minus the under and over exposed images as part of an HDR sequence) and added these to imovie 09 which compiled them into a sequence and allowed me to add music and titles etc.
